Meet new friends, enjoy a cuppa and have fun at these relaxed, sociable singing sessions, where everyone is welcome. No previous singing experience is necessary! Just come along for a happy hour of singing with guitar and/or piano accompaniment. If you enjoy singing in the shower, in the car or around the house, then this is the perfect session for you.
Musical Memories sessions provide local residents, especially older people, the opportunity to get together in a social setting, to make new friends whilst having a good sing, reminisce about past times, and even get some exercise! They also provide those who care for an older person a great chance either for a break or to take part in an activity with the person they care for outside of the home.
Each session lasts about 60 minutes, beginning with a short warm-up exercise, two 20 minutes singing sessions with accompaniment from guitar or piano with a ten-minute coffee break in between, and a final five minute ‘farewell’ song. There will also be time for people who attend the session to chat with one another and with members of the project team.
The Milton Rooms would like to thank all the organisations whose funding has made the ‘Musical Memories’ sessions possible: the Arts for Change fund managed by the Two Ridings Foundation, the Normanby Charitable Trust, Malton & Norton Lions and Malton CiC
A contribution of £3 is invited to cover basic costs.
